Gorgeous day in the Gorge

Today Greg and I hiked the short Catherine Creek loop that goes up along the creek, crosses over, and the loops back up on the bluff above the arch. It was a gorgeous sunny day out there and we were even treated to a view of Mt. Hood!

We headed over to the Coyote Wall area after that and hiked a loop that wound its way up the east side, crossed over, and came down the west side. I haven’t been there in a few years and there has been some major trail re-routing on the east side. It’s nice, though. There are creeks and meadows and oak trees, and the wildflowers are well underway. We were treated to more views of Mt. Hood.

Coyote Wall

Between the two hikes we did more than nine miles today. Whew! I haven’t hiked that many miles in one day since last summer!

Here are Greg’s wildflower reports for Catherine Creek and Coyote Wall. The spectacular balsamroot display is just a few weeks away!
