Today I went for an easy stroll along the Metolius River, which is such a lovely river. I parked across from the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery and walked over the bridge
On the other side I turned left and headed south along the west bank of the river enjoying the peace and quiet and seeing almost nobody:
The fall color was just getting started:
I reached the spot where a spring flows out of the hillside into the river on the opposite bank. It’s a neat spot and I stopped here for a break before turning around and heading back:
After my hike I wandered around the hatchery a little bit:
This is the settling pond. You can buy fish food from dispensers and feed the fish, which some people were doing:
High above the hatchery on Green Ridge is a fire lookout that can be rented. I hope to stay at this one someday soon!
I don’t know what happened to my Gaia track, but I hiked about 4.5 miles.
