Green Ridge

I have never been to the Green Ridge lookout so on Saturday I decided to do that and hike part of the Green Ridge Trail in the process.

I parked at the northern terminus of the trail on Road 900:

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this trail. I was pleasantly surprised to find the trail easy to follow and free of blowdown:

And there were views along the way as well:

This is a nice campsite, although there is no water nearby:

At the edge of the ridge at this campsite were far-reaching views:

The trail crossed Road 600 but I turned right to head to the lookout:

Then the gate:

I hiked past the gate down the road to the lookout, which is rented this time of year but was unoccupied when I stopped by:

After lingering here to enjoy the view for awhile I retraced my steps back to the car. I didn’t expect to see anyone else today, but I saw three hikers with a dog as well as two cyclists. I know the trail is popular with equestrians and mountain bikers.
