Before driving home today we did one last hike. We broke camp and drove up to Hurricane Ridge where we found that the clouds we’d been seeing all weekend had finally dissipated and it was a gorgeous sunny day.
We hit the trail, heading up to Sunrise Point:
We passed some deer up at the point. They seemed pretty unconcerned with all the people around:
The view from Sunrise Point is somewhat obstructed by trees, but still pretty nice:
That’s Hurricane Hill, which we hiked back in early August:
We continued past Sunrise Point, following the trail north:
We saw the deer again on the slope below us:
And an Olympic Marmot:
Everything is pretty brown now at this point, but it was probably really lovely up here in July with wildflowers:
Our turnaround point was just ahead in the trees below, where a climber’s trail heads up to Mt. Angeles:
Heading back:
We found a nice spot just off the trail to sit and enjoy the view of the mountains. We saw many many hikers passing by. The temperature was perfect and it was really pleasant sitting here:
It was hard to tear ourselves away and head back, but we finally packed up and continued back to the car:
Right near the parking lot we saw a marmot by the trail, a crowd of people circled around taking photos:
