Over Veteran’s Day weekend I stayed in a yurt at the Link Creek Campground at Suttle Lake. On Friday I did the hike around the lake.
This was my yurt. No electricity and only a woodstove for heat:
I set off the down the trail, heading counter-clockwise around the lake:
I passed South Shore Campground, which is all closed up for winter:
This beautiful swan was swimming on the lake:
As I reached the far end of the lake I got a view of The Boathouse:
Crossing the bridge over Lake Creek:
I stopped to check out Suttle Lodge:
Then continued on toward the day use area where I started heading back down the length on the north shore:
I got a view of Black Butte:
At the far end I crossed a footbridge over Link Creek and then I was back in my campground:
View from the footbridge:
This was a pleasant walk, but far from quiet. The noise from Highway 20 is non-stop and there are no quiet parts on this hike. In summer when you have noise from boats and jetskis it is probably an even louder hike.
