Very windy Memorial Day on Dog Mountain

Greg and I got up early and slogged up Dog Mountain this morning. 2.5 hours to the top! The flowers are looking good. Lots of different kinds of wildflowers all over the place, although the balsamroot hasn’t peaked yet. Probably next weekend. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to spend much time up there to actually enjoy the flowers. There was a RAGING wind up there today. I spent about two minutes at the summit eating a few cookies before beating a hasty retreat across the meadows to the protection of the forest. Greg lingered in the meadows a little longer, but soon joined me. It was pretty bad. Here’s a video.

Sadly, I didn’t get many good photos because of the wind.

We were the 10th car in the lot when we arrived at 7:25 this morning. When we arrived back at the car at 1:00 there were well over 100 cars. The lot had filled up and cars were parked along the shoulder.
