After the short hike to Hanging Rock we headed over to Mt. Bolivar to do that hike.

Mt. Bolivar Hike

Right at the beginning of the hike you can see Mt. Bolivar looming over you. It looks intimidating!

We started climbing upward, passing some wildflowers:

The trail turned out to be pretty well-graded and not steep:

Parts of the trail burned in the 2005 Blossom Fire, but some trees are intact:

When we got close to the summit we came across a big rock garden of siskiyou lewisia in bloom:

The summit used to be the site of a fire lookout. It’s gone now, but the views are still great:

Distant Mt. McLoughlin to the east, barely visible:

View to the southwest. Saddle Peaks are in the foreground. Hanging Rock, where we were earlier, isn’t really visible due to the light, but it’s just to the right of Saddle Peaks:

This lone tree on the summit provided us shade to sit in while we took a break:

We ate cheese and drank wine cocktails. How fancy are we!

Nice little hike and we didn’t see a single other person the whole time.
