After my hike up Sand Mountain this morning I headed over to do the short hike up Carpenter Mountain.
There was a great view of the Three Sisters from the trailhead:

Carpenter Mountain is in the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest, so you’ll see signs like this:

I reached the lookout and met Rob, who has been working this lookout since 2014. He remembered meeting a woman back in the day who said she was visiting every lookout in the state. “That was me!” I said. I was up here that summer of 2014. His first day up here this season was June 20 when we had that crazy cold snap. Up here it was cold and snowy. Fortunately today was clear and beautiful:
