Today we did the hike to Chimney Rock.
The trailhead parking area has been expanded and developed since we were last here in 2021:
Climbing up the trail:
We saw a number of wildflowers. Fleabane:
Yarrow:
Milkvetch:
Larkspur:
Sage:
Buckwheat:
Bitterroot:
Desert yellow fleabane:
Grand collomia:
Chick lupine:
Paintbrush:
We were hiking through a dry high desert landscape:
We started to get a view of the Cascades to the west:
Looking down the trail we just hiked up:
Then we reached Chimney Rock where we parked ourselves in the shade and ate a snack:
This is a short hike, but the day was quite warm, so afterwards we accessed the Crooked River via the Chimney Rock Campground so we could cool off:
