I visited Pig Iron Lookout last year when I hiked the trail up from below. I was back in the area and decided to approach from the road.
I parked at the gate and hiked in:
I saw a few patches of rhododendron in bloom along the way:
I reached the lookout. Last year when I was here the lookout on duty wasn’t present, but today she was and we had a nice chat about fire lookouts:
It was a beautiful clear day, (although uncomfortably hot):
