2023 Wildfires Lead to Wrapped Lookouts

The human-caused Flat Fire started on July 15 near Oak Flat Campground along the Illinois River in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The following week the area around Snow Camp Lookout (south of the fire) was closed as the fire approached. Snow Camp is no longer staffed and is a rental in the summer. Reservations for the remainder of the season were canceled and the lookout was wrapped.

The human-caused Bedrock Fire started near Bedrock Campground along Fall Creek in the Willamette National Forest on July 22. Little Cowhorn Lookout is no longer staffed and is available for people to stay in first-come first-serve. The area around it has been closed and the lookout has been wrapped.
