We could see the fire lookout as we approached:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/950\/42235146232_109a644984_c.jpg\" alt=\"Green Mountain Lookout\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We parked in the small unoccupied Green Mountain Campground. This actually looks like a nice spot to stay!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/968\/28408829968_ff3393a375_c.jpg\" alt=\"Green Mountain Campground\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/882\/40475182320_5acc50e6f5_c.jpg\" alt=\"Green Mountain Campground\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/947\/28408822178_606e6c7d90_c.jpg\" alt=\"Green Mountain Campground\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then we took the short trail up to the lookout:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/974\/42235133022_ed8645086c_c.jpg\" alt=\"Green Mountain\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first lookout here was built in 1963. Here is Ron Kemnow&#8217;s photo from 2006:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oregonlookouts.weebly.com\/green-mountain3.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/oregonlookouts.weebly.com\/uploads\/1\/5\/9\/1\/1591048\/green-mtn-lake-co-2_orig.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was replaced by this lookout in 2010. But we still had great views from the ground. It was so awesome to have views finally! It had been such a cloudy trip so far. Paulina Peak (snowy one at center) and Hogback Butte:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/977\/27411387067_1e99b6ce36_c.jpg\" alt=\"Green Mountain\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The major peaks from left to right: Odell Butte, Diamond Peak (very snowy), Maiden Peak, and The Twins.
