July started off blazing hot with scorching temperatures throughout the 4th of July weekend. It stayed hot for several weeks after that. On July 3 the <a href=\"https:\/\/inciweb.wildfire.gov\/incident-information\/caknf-shelly-fire\">Shelly Fire<\/a> started along the PCT in the Marble Mountain Wilderness in northern California, sending smoke up into Oregon. (Probably human-caused.) Then humans got busy starting fires around here:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>July 9: <a href=\"https:\/\/inciweb.wildfire.gov\/incident-information\/or95s-larch-creek-fire\">Larch Creek Fire<\/a> near Dufur<\/li>\n<li>July 10: <a href=\"https:\/\/inciweb.wildfire.gov\/incident-information\/ormaf-falls-fire\">Falls Fire<\/a> near Burns<\/li>\n<li>July 11: <a href=\"https:\/\/inciweb.wildfire.gov\/incident-information\/orvad-cow-valley-fire\">Cow Valley Fire<\/a> near Baker City<\/li>\n<li>July 13: <a href=\"https:\/\/inciweb.wildfire.gov\/incident-information\/orprd-lone-rock-fire\">Lone Rock Fire<\/a> near Condon (technically this one is &#8220;under investigation&#8221; but that usually ends up meaning human-caused)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thunderstorms arrived in mid-July, starting even more fires. The largest fire is the <a href=\"https:\/\/inciweb.wildfire.gov\/incident-information\/orvad-durkee-fire\">Durkee Fire<\/a>, which was started by lightning on July 17.
