The gate was open when I visited Mt. Stella:<\/p>\n

There are some rough patches of road the last 0.7 miles:<\/p>\n

To my surprise the Forest Service had been up here this season clearing brush and blowdown:<\/p>\n

There’s a switchback on the road where the views are pretty great:<\/p>\n

Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n

From Highway 230, just 0.8 miles north of the junction with Crater Lake Highway, turn west onto Road 6510. After 1.6 miles go left at a fork. 2.9 miles from the highway the main road goes right and you\u2019ll stay straight, getting on Road 200. The road is good for 0.7 miles until it forks left and becomes rough as it passes through a gate. It is another 0.7 miles to the parking area at the lookout.<\/p>\n

History<\/strong><\/p>\n

A 20′ L-4 tower was built on Mt. Stella in 1932.<\/p>\n

It was replaced with a 30′ L-4 tower in 1946. It has since been abandoned.<\/p>\n
