After visiting Crane Point I continued south to check out Antelope Mountain. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Road 544 to the summit had been re-graveled recently, although there is a 0.2 mile stretch at the top that did not get new gravel:<\/p>\n

This lookout is staffed in summer, but at this point in the season it was all buttoned up for winter:<\/p>\n

Looks like some sort of shed or garage used to stand here:<\/p>\n

The old weather station has collapsed in a heap:<\/p>\n

I was able to climb the stairs most of the way and get some views, although it was pretty hazy. Lookout Mountain to the north:<\/p>\n

From the intersection with Road 16 drive south for 9.7 miles on Road 14. Reach a four-way intersection, go straight, then immediately turn right onto Road 544. The first 0.9 miles are good gravel, then the road reverts to rough and rocky for 0.2 miles, then it\u2019s good gravel again for the final few hundred feet to the tower.<\/p>\n

In 1974 the R-6 cab from Lake Butte was moved to Antelope Mountain. Not deconstructed and reconstructed, but literally put on a truck and moved via road:<\/p>\n
