A road goes to the summit&#8211;which is within a 78-acre parcel of state land&#8211;but because it&#8217;s almost entirely surrounded by Georgia Pacific land, the public can&#8217;t drive up there.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This is a view of Green Peter from Foster Reservoir:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53131402198_54fc0fe83a_b.jpg\" alt=\"Green Peter Mountain\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I parked at a Georgia Pacific Gate on Sunnyside Road.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54564434997_cd4ca4c03e_b.jpg\" alt=\"Green Peter Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you ever find one of these gates open I do not advise driving past it:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54565639030_6ce0cfcb84_b.jpg\" alt=\"Green Peter Hike\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was an overcast day as I followed the gravel roads \/><\/p>\n<p>At 2.6 miles I reached the spur road to the summit, which had its own gate:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Almost there:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54565321251_25d0af4e31_b.jpg\" alt=\"Green Peter Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After 3.8 miles I reached the summit:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54564446282_bf2c4bbc70_b.jpg\" alt=\"Green Peter Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you go left (not recommended) you can hike up this steep eroded road:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54565553658_440d094485_b.jpg\" alt=\"Green Peter Hike\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Go around the white building to where an ancient propane tank sits and the lookout comes into view:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54565650615_c3b70f5159_b.jpg\" alt=\"Green Peter width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And up these rickety metal stairs:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Follow this boot path up along the ridge:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"
