I didn&#8217;t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Forest Service had recently brushed out the road. I parked on the shoulder just downhill from the trail:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53817606114_8bf9b24152_b.jpg\" alt=\"Lookout Mountain\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53817606084_f63227ee9a_b.jpg\" alt=\"Lookout Mountain\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I set off up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/recarea\/umpqua\/recarea\/?recid=63728\">Lookout Mountain Trail #1528<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53817606024_f2d1fb8202_b.jpg\" alt=\"Lookout Mountain\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The route appeared to follow an old bed for the first part:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53817516498_246434c838_b.jpg\" alt=\"Lookout Mountain\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There was some blowdown:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53817605954_63b1990d50_c.jpg\" alt=\"Lookout Mountain\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think this trail sees much traffic:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53816345847_f3f8a04986_c.jpg\" alt=\"Lookout Mountain\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Starting to get some views. Wow, check out these awesome views! Looking southeast at Quartz Mountain and the tippy top of Mt. For such a short trail with amazing views and wildflowers I&#8217;m surprised this hike doesn&#8217;t get more attention.
