This is a 1925 cupola lookout that had its cupola lowered at some point:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53124446680_48bbcfef80_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53124527608_94be023f01_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53124044411_2f322b643a_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t locked, and in fact the latch on the frame and the door no longer line up:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53124521438_c78f8aff5e_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It appears it was being used for storage:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53123437062_81797250aa_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53124521473_7bb1046415_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53124440005_fd99ee53c2_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The lightning protection system is broken:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53124439855_3cb5fba37e_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There is also a 20&#8242; tower (built in 1956) that was once staffed, but not anymore:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53123442442_00c849a611_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53124445160_f86de18089_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53124042996_597cfbc064_b.jpg\" alt=\"Illahee Rock Hike\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The trapdoor to the catwalk is locked, but someone cut a hole in it at some point to gain access. It&#8217;s not a very big hole, though. Thielsen and Mt.
