It was nice to catch up with her while Greg frequently hung behind and photographed every wildflower we passed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52919939154_917e812636_c.jpg\" alt=\"Bald Butte Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Towards the beginning of the hike the trail switchbacks up an open meadow area with wildflower and great views of Mt. The shade was welcome since the day was warming up quick:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52924353117_8c214a8969_c.jpg\" alt=\"Bald Butte Hike\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We reached Surveyor&#8217;s Ridge and headed north towards Bald Butte. We saw some nice flowering currant:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52922528880_38038a967d_c.jpg\" alt=\"Bald Butte Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The trail passes under these big power lines, then climbs up a steep road:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52922300864_4896e4a3ac_c.jpg\" alt=\"Bald Butte Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As we made the final push towards the summit we started passing a whole bunch of wildflowers, especially balsamroot. Hood and of Mt. St. Helens:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52924343202_bb027e01ca_c.jpg\" alt=\"Bald Butte Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52925376318_c3f3778c8e_c.jpg\" alt=\"Bald Butte Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There was a fire lookout up here long ago and we found some old metal cable that still remains:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52925323655_f5d2e2c187_c.jpg\" alt=\"Bald Butte Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There isn&#8217;t much in the way of shade up there, so we kind of snuggled up against a shrub to take advantage of its scant shade on this hot day. We saw numerous dirt bikes and ATVs pass through. I thought they weren&#8217;t allowed on this trail and when I asked the Mt.
