I imagine it will dry up in a few weeks:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52169837613_894b1cd0f2_c.jpg\" alt=\"Ancient Lake Hike\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We saw what looked like vintage airplanes flying overhead, which was pretty cool:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52174962139_6576f27ec8_c.jpg\" alt=\"Ancient Lake Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then we got our first sight of Ancient \/><\/p>\n<p>We took the trail along the north side of the lake:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52175195830_9b4d780402_c.jpg\" Lake Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It stopped being a trail and became more of a rock scramble:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" href=\"https:\/\/www.waterfallsnorthwest.com\/waterfall\/Ancient-Lake-Falls-3106\">Ancient Lake Falls<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52173684312_8bf1c8ab1b_c.jpg\" alt=\"Ancient Lake Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We scrambled up a &#8220;trail&#8221; to get to the top \/><\/p>\n<p>Along the way we passed a nice rock viewpoint where hikers could sit and enjoy the view, except this guy thought he would set up his tent there:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the top tier of the waterfall:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52175190695_97a5b1ffcd_c.jpg\" alt=\"Ancient Lake Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We reached the top of the falls and could see upstream towards Judith Pool and H Lake (out of sight) where the water comes from:<\/p>\n<p><img height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The guy with the tent continued setting up his camp on the ledge:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Ancient Lake Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We reached a narrow shallow spot in the lake that was more like a wetland and watched the birds here:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We left Ancient Lake behind and set off on one of the user trails heading west:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We met back up with the Dusty Lake Trail and headed back to the car.
