Thanks to our early start we had the summit all to ourselves:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50503237256_b59287bbfe_c.jpg\" alt=\"Lookout Mountain\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Looking south there is Mt. Jefferson on the right and the Three Sisters barely visible on the left:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50503236591_6e453cb137_c.jpg\" alt=\"Three Sisters and Mt. Jefferson\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of course Mt. Hood is front and center:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50503517547_39bd736966_c.jpg\" alt=\"Mt. Hood\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams to the north:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50502644108_f6f5ea4f56_c.jpg\" alt=\"Mt. Adams and Mt. Rainier\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mt. St. Helens\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Looking east we could see the larches were just barely starting to turn, which was disappointing. We had hoped they would be more orange by this point:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50503453871_f8130ee85a_c.jpg\" alt=\"Looking east\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We descended from Lookout Mountain:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50503630986_d1b749dff8_c.jpg\" alt=\"Lookout Mountain\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then we headed east on the Divide Trail:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50503629571_ef052867a3_c.jpg\" alt=\"Divide Trail\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The trail steadily loses elevation as it heads east from Lookout Mountain:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50502908233_2c0391e55f_c.jpg\" alt=\"Divide Trail\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50503782827_09d74c105b_c.jpg\" alt=\"Divide Trail\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50502906528_e4eae8a104_c.jpg\" alt=\"Divide Trail\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>1.4 miles from Lookout Mountain we passed the junction with the Fret Creek Trail, then the trail climbed up to Palisade Point. On the way back towards Lookout Mountain we took a side trail to a nice view of Mt.
