We parked alongside Highway 35 and headed up the Gumjuwac Trail:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1481\/24718260856_82c96e5126_c.jpg\" alt=\"Gumjuwac Trail\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is all in the trees except for one nice spot with a view of Mt. Hood:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1489\/24376804819_1fb322329f_c.jpg\" alt=\"Mt. Hood\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/5672\/21214421668_e4614fa1aa_c.jpg\" alt=\"Mountain admiration\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We could also see south down onto Highway 35:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1631\/24117576913_f24f9f54bf_c.jpg\" alt=\"Forest view\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After 2.5 miles and 1,600&#8242; elevation gain we reached Road 3550 and Gumjuwac Saddle and this cool old sign:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1639\/24744444065_157cc8db55_c.jpg\" alt=\"Old sign\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now we headed south on the Gunsight Butte Trail:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1664\/24718212346_ec298df9d6_c.jpg\" alt=\"Hiking\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1559\/24718209326_34326d6fe3_c.jpg\" alt=\"Gunsight Butte Trail\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1583\/24718207146_8f2bfde12c_c.jpg\" alt=\"Mt. Hood\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1646\/24116223874_45ac3c2603_c.jpg\" alt=\"Mt. Adams\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to the map this is the summit of Gunsight Butte:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1575\/24718204656_7273f0b756_c.jpg\" alt=\"Gunsight Butte trail\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But this rockpile a bit further up the trail seems more likely:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1702\/24116225904_4f917422eb_c.jpg\" alt=\"Rockpile\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p>About 1.8 miles from Gumjuwac Saddle, the Gunsight Butte Trail meets back up with Road 3550. Near that spot we had a view looking down on Badger Lake with Mt. Jefferson beyond:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1602\/24650897311_8c09956553_c.jpg\" alt=\"Badger Lake\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1450\/24718197286_3affcede43_c.jpg\" alt=\"Badger Lake\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1661\/24650892321_81185927c4_c.jpg\" alt=\"Mt.
