{"id":3064,"date":"2019-11-12T16:49:54","date_gmt":"2019-11-12T16:49:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cherylhill.net\/blog\/?p=3064"},"modified":"2019-12-08T00:42:20","modified_gmt":"2019-12-08T00:42:20","slug":"table-rock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cherylhill.net\/blog\/2019\/11\/12\/table-rock\/","title":{"rendered":"Table Rock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sunday, October 6, 2019<\/p>\n<p>Today was supposed to be gorgeous so Greg and I decided to do the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonhikers.org\/field_guide\/Table_rock_hike\">Table Rock hike<\/a>. <!--more--> The trailhead is now 1.3 further miles back than it used to be before a 1996 landslide wiped out a big section of road:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48875774651_7581ba5559_c.jpg\" alt=\"Table Rock Trailhead\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can tell this was once a road, but it is definitely being taken back by nature:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48875968967_709f6f599a_c.jpg\" alt=\"Table Rock Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>23 years on the landslide site is being consumed by trees and vegetation:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48875236138_7d2e439f96_c.jpg\" alt=\"Table Rock Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After 1.3 miles we left the road and got on the trail. Hood:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48875761521_9a677007b4_c.jpg\" alt=\"Table Rock Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Back on the trail we continued on, crossing a huge rockslide:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48875758826_1f2ace2a5d_c.jpg\" alt=\"Table Rock Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here is the final approach to the summit:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48875974032_5d8d0cc0ff_c.jpg\" alt=\"Table Rock Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My family did this hike in 1987 and there is a picture of that same section of trail. The trees have grown up a bit!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48875972872_51ae092c1f_c.jpg\" alt=\"Table Rock Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"537\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We made it! From the rim of the table the views to the north, east, and south were incredible. Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. It&#8217;s hideous:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48909088922_f65779e4c9_c.jpg\" alt=\"Table Rock Hike\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We sat up there for awhile soaking up the warm sunshine and the views.
