We expected we would see good fall color and we were not disappointed:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4910\/31844921318_0b15888a2a_c.jpg\" alt=\"Fall Color\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4881\/43899191980_dfacd9ff55_c.jpg\" alt=\"Fall Color\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1913\/44802683755_454baf050c_c.jpg\" alt=\"Fall Color\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We hiked clockwise from the cabins and soon found ourselves at the north end of the lake with a view looking south where we could see a bit of the Three Sisters above the store:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1970\/44806242035_60fd04a337_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>More fall color:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4829\/44807404225_c32b7bb39f_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"534\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We connected with the McKenzie River National Recreation Trail and crossed Fish Lake Creek, which was dry (Fish Lake, where Deb and I <a href=\"http:\/\/cherylhill.net\/blog\/2018\/03\/14\/fish-lake-commissary-cabin\/\">stayed last winter<\/a>, is less than a mile from here):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4881\/44996540274_be7e4e46f6_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Love the color of this lake!:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1954\/30780942627_441c020e9a_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>More fall color:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4844\/45670821752_180540a5a3_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We passed Great Spring although I never would have known this was a spring. It simply appeared to be a little lake inlet. This is considered the source of the McKenzie River:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1958\/44996532374_2352cf21f1_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hiking south along the lake&#8217;s eastern shore, we could now see across to the store where we had started. At this point of the lake that is quite narrow:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4909\/45670814292_5879229829_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hiking on:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4805\/44996528284_cba81f5a28_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4853\/31983139118_c8c3cfd004_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4911\/44941311415_75ab227dc0_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We passed Cold Water Cove Campground, then crossed a footbridge over the lake outlet at the south end:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4848\/31983134488_b73f20c708_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4911\/30915236797_d33cbec1e9_c.jpg\" alt=\"Clear Lake Loop\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After that it was a quick and easy hike up the western shore back to our car.
